Travel to North-East - When best? Options?
Guys,
I am blank about this region but want to explore it at leisure. What is the best time to go around there?
1. Gangtok -> Shillong-> Imphal (feasible?)
2. Any permit requirements & how to take them
3. Expenses overview (all options based on your recent personal experience)
4. Best time of the year to go here
5. Offbeat places to go
6. Mode of travel - Can we hire two wheelers? Rely on buses?
7. Safety requirements
Pour in your inputs. I hope this thread will be of benefit to me as well as others who are interested in NE travel
I would like to try this path towards the end of this year. Around Oct-Nov 09 timeframes. Any others interested? fair share travel. Looking for like minded folks to go along.. 2 or 4 together. (I am male, Straight & have no other intentions - FYI) PM me if interested

Maybe there is no response because you are covering a very wide area in your itinerary! Have you had a look around the "Other Areas" forum as well as the "Sikkim" forum?
The time of year you are planning is good, after monsoons, before intense cold. You might wish to suggest a more precise route then maybe someone will reply.
