Yeah sure it does saves a lot of money when you do not have to pay for staying, specially on international trips. I have traveled within India so far, mostly in north India.
I have been to Nainital, Dhanaulti, Kasauli, Shimla, Mussorie, Surat, Gujrat, Kutch, Dholavira, Dharamshala, Dharamkot, Rishikesh, Chakarat, Sikkim, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and I guess that is pretty much it. I do want to visit many places and it was one of the reasons for me to become self employed as it gives me a lot of freedom and flexibility. And yeah I am also planning a month long trip to Paris. Not sure if I have traveled more than you but no matter how many places I go, it is never enough |

Gujrat been there too I found there was nothing to see at all apart from Abu mountain(i think thats the name)went Darjeeling but that was in monsoon season so we head back. But wow you have been too many places.
Yes having no constraints is always a plus.Paris is boring I feel but I think its because im used to Indias beauty but in France there are some good hill stations but thats on the outskirts.you should go switzerland on the Bernia express on the border between milan and switzerland you will love it because its so different to India o yes visit Madras especially Kanyakumari (is thats how you spell it). |

Precisely I went to Ahmedabad and had great fun at Adalaj step well (for photography).
Here are some pics from my Gujrat trip While I was in Ahmedabad I saw a brochure in my hotel for Harappan civilization site in Dholavira, Kutch and I immediately left for there. Believe me it was an amazing experience, I traveled on roof top of a bus for the first time ever (kids don't try this at home) to reach there and after changing countless number of buses, though I had my entire body paining the next day but it was worth it. Visiting a place I had only read about in my history books of 6th class was a nice feeling and as it is a totally non commercial place, I must tell you that I really got shocked when I came out of my room the first night and found stars so close in the sky, it almost felt at first that I was in space... lol When I travel I usually keep my options open and go to places randomly and do not have any expectation what so ever, so no matter how the place is, it is a new experience and that matters a lot. If I like the place then yeah I go there over and over again. I have been to Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Sikkim twice so far and both the times during monsoon and it has its own beauty in that season, yeah we too faced a lot of problem due to land slides etc but I guess again that was worth it. Funny it may sound I am planning to visit these places again this year and that too in monsoon ![]() Reason why I want to go to Paris is that I want to learn about there culture so I wont just sit in one place and will be traveling around to many places and will be learning french from Alliance Francaise. I am not much keen on visiting Kanyakumari (yeah that is how it is spelled) as of now but may be in future but I am really looking forward to visiting Kerela and live on those house boats ![]() Quote:

yes i suppose every destination has something different to offer in terms of an experience.in Darjeeling the rain is so different I feel its more heavy droplets as if God is angry lol.yes we were going to go to Kerla this year too if the Leh plan didnt go ahead.
I looked at your pictures for Gujrat and they are wonderful especially the ones with the local people.in each photo you can see a different emotion and the way you have captured it is awesome.Your lucky your a guy you can go and do these things without any restictions lol. |

Well I would say this is where the difference exists in the attitude. I have trekked twice to Triund and it is about a 20km trek. I was surprised to see that I was the only Indian trekking and I met many girls from abroad who were trekking there (alone as well). And rather than running away after looking at me (an Indian boy) they greeted me with Namaste and at times even spoke to me.
Safety measures and precautions are more or less same for both guys and girls but I guess it is overly made an issue out of some basic problems for girls which are faced everywhere in world. PS: Just my personal opinion, might be foolish as well |

wow.. well if the things which you mentioned are dangerous then God knows what they are gonna say about me.. may be call me a lunatic..
But I am not a lunatic and any of the adventure lover is not. They take good amount precautions and professional guidance to make sure we can do more of such crazy stuff in future as well. It was hard for me to explain to my dad too about my such kind of ventures but he eventually understood that I am going to do such things anyways. And yeah believe me we take more risk walking on the roads in our cities then we would while doing river rafting or rock climbing. PS: If you have already not seen then consider watching movie "Into the Wild" |
