Travel Partner needed for Valley of Flowers trek

Hello there,

I would love to do the Valley of Flowers trek this August-September 2011.

Now I don't think its a good idea for do this alone, and I can't seem to find any trekeeing clubs etc that do this (if anyone could suggest any good clubs, that would be great!)

So, I (female, Indian) am looking for a travel partner(s), preferably female to do this absolutely stunning trek. Pls be aware that this is a slightly strenuous trek.
And if possible also do Kedar, Badrinath, and Hemkund Sahib. This full itinerary would be around 10 - 12 days. The trek alone takes around 8-9 days

Do get in touch.

Thanks!

I had gone to VOF in August a few years back. I think the trek can be done alone because the route is very easy to follow and with lots of people going to Hemkund and lots of tea stalls/places to eat its quite crowded.
The difficulty is that rains can damage roads. The path from Ghangria to Hemkund is steep and difficult during the rainy season. The trick is to go as slowly as possible and save energy.

The VOF part is easier but there are no ponies/ no roadside tea shops etc.

If you are medically fit, you can do this trek alone. It is absolutely safe, more so because it is also busy compared to some other treks. If you don’t find a partner, go ahead with the plan, you will enjoy it

Oct

Hi SVR,

We are planning to be there sometime in Oct,infact have booked the tickets and have planned a rafting trip before or after the trek.

Now my only doubt is - do they allow anyone to trek late in Oct..When i say late - it's the last week of Oct we are planning to trek VOF. Is it allowed?

I do not think you will be allowed to enter the park in late October. The authorities close it after mid-September. You should rather check the Uttarakhand tourism's website or call the state government's tourism officials for the correct information.
