Question Travel/cultural exchange

Hi, I will be traveling in India toward the end of Novemnber and will be accomodating in either Mumbai or Jodphur, using that as the jumping of point to visit that area of India. I am open to other suggestions, of course, however, I am lookig for someone who either lives in one of those areas or someone who would llke to visit those areas but who is from India, in the interest of cultural exhange. I have visited with close friends in Chandigarh/Delhi and so have visited a large part of those cities, Rajasthan, Punjab, and the Himalayas, on tow other occasions so thought it might be nice to explore further and get to know epople who might want to see their own country a bit more - and with the added adventure of an American as a travel companion. Or it would just be nice to meet you locally for an evening out or tea or something sometime. It am not interested in the typical tourist visit although vsiting as a tourist part of the itinerary. I would do just about anything from riding camels and camping in the desert to trekiing or rafting - but no crocodiles/or reptiles if they can be avoided please.(ok, I'm a girl!)But most imporatntly, the beauty of any country is not merely the countryside but the people who inhabit it... so anyone?

Dear Lola
Good Day

It is nice to hear that you are interested in local people and culture of Rajasthan.

I am living in Pushkar a small town 200 Km from Jodhpur.
Working as accessory designer and also travel to different villages to work with local people of Rajasthan who are born artisian and it is interesting work for me and also a source of new inspiration for my work.

If you are interested to travel some part of Rajasthan and meet these people do let me know.

Thanks

If you are interested in intercultural exchange then check out CS (www.couchsurfing.org) or HC (www.hospitalityclub.org). If you are interested in exchanging ideas and cultural views then you can contact me when you come down to Mumbai and we can plan to meet.

Hey there... I'm an Indian woman who loves travelling. I travel quite frequently and wouldn't mind some company. However, I've travelled a lot around my country, so I usually like heading to non-touristy places. If that appeals... feel free to drop in a line. All the Best for your trip. Have Fun!
