TRAVEL BUDDIES Oct 22nd, 2011 - Nov 14th, 2011!!!

I'm a laid back 25 year old Australian guy. Going to India (alone) for the first time. Arriving in Varanasi 22nd October 2011, then taking a month to wind south and fly out of Mumbai Nov 15th. I'm really keen to meet some like-minded travellers. Going alone is becoming a more and more daunting idea! Would love to meet some folks in Varanasi for Diwali! Check out my profile.

Hey Vandy, thanks for writing!

Probably not heading to Kolkata this time around. My rough itinerary is Varanasi for about ten days, then maybe a week or two to see Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, then shooting south to Kerala for however much time I have left before flying out of Mumbai mid-November. I'll keep you in mind and keep in touch!

My only suggestion is that If you have any interest in visiting Goa, leave yourself enough time to get the train from Kerala and have a few days in Goa to unwind before heading up to Mumbai &
onwards.

There is an O'night train from Cochin.Not sure If you can fly direct to Goa from Cochin(Kochi)I know you can definetly fly kerala to Mumbai which could be a better option IF you want the Extra time for Kerala.

I was thinking of just taking the extra time in Kerala actually. As I'm only in India for a month, I'd rather get a decent taste of the places I do see, rather then spend half my time commuting. Those are awesome tips mate! You've actually cleared up alot of stuff for me already!

I think next year I'm going to try a proper few months in India so I can do more!

Internal Flights are not that expensive compared to OZ,For instance I can Fly Chennai > Kolkata > Bangalore > Cochin for less than 250 Aust Dollars.Thats pretty good for the Distance covered and time saved.

All the best and one other thing I have heard that one can do a River Ganges boating experience whilst in Varanasi.

I'm volunteering in Manali at the moment but will be flying to Kerala on the 15th October and hoping to spent 3-4 weeks in kerala and goa then head up through Mumbai to Rajastan. If you planning to be in these places at these (vague) dates it'd be great to meet. I'm also a solo traveller and a bit daunted....

My mate who'd cancelled on me is now back on board (big relief, actually, although the prospect of solo travel was gaining some appeal :-P ), we should arrive in Kerala around the 9th November, so yeah, if you're keen to meet up for a drink with some friendly aussies let's keep in touch!
