After a 2 week stint at the Himalayas (Bhutan,Uttarakhand, Darjeeling, Nepal)..back at god's own country- but the summer heat is tempting me to head back up
Thinking of doing some/all of the seven sisters (Assam,Meghalaya, Arunachal,Sikkim, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland)

because of various factors (Weather, security etc..) I suppose this will require some planning (Guwahati-Tawang-Shillong looks easily doable with minimum hassle) and I thought getting some people along will help to reduce the cost involved in road travel.

I have a fairly flexible plan (at long as it gets over by June ) and not too picky about travel partners (serial killers, please stay away though- nothing personal :P )

anyone game?

Hello Mate,
Great to know the plan for 7 Sisters. I am going to Bhutan in Oct'10. I would ask for some tips from you at later stage.

Can you send me a elaborate note for this plan of 7 Sisters?

this is what one of my friends, who lives there suggested
mods- sorry for the sms lingo, just copy pasting what I received

i suggest stick to standard Mehaglaya, Assam n Arunachal
for Arunachal try:
1. Along Mechukha
2. Ziro - Palin Nyapin Sangram - Kaloriang
if possible Tuting (can be visited from Along- Pasighat)... See More

some standard must visit routes
1. Tezpur- Bhalukpong - Bomdila - Tawang
2. Tezpur - Seijosa - Bhalukpong - Tipi

from Guwahati u can reach Bhalukpong by rail after that by road only. u can stay at Circuit House or Govt. Tourist Lodges although there r few hotel, they r either expensive one or very bad ones.
some thing that can be interesting to u... Tawang Monastry n various Gompas, also countless Monasteries. best part of NE is u dont have to pin-point some location as must see... the route itself is scenic.
one very important thing, u need to obtain an inner line permit for Arunachal. u can contact liaison officer at guwahati or shillong or tezpur... not sure but i think theres one in kolkata too. i case u r planning to visit lemme know... u can contact few tour guys operating there. pre negotiate the fares or else u might get ripped
expenses will be mostly on travelling. staying is pretty affordable, with dorms-100/day to 2000/ day for delux ac rooms(Govt. lodges). for food u hav lots of road side dhabas catering good local or standard trucker food... n its cheap or else u can have Maggi served at all these places visited by tourists
