Jackie, you seem to be terribly confused, I seems that something recently has made an impression on your mind and you just want to start a crusade !!
I hope you research a bit first, internet if your friend, before making any judgements... |

It is in general but i dont think you will find a more open platform with the kind of neutrality needed to be able to discuss a topic like this than this site... as long as its a bit of an organized discussion...

It Ws On The News
Quote:
It was on the news here. They interviewed an Indian family who were crying and wailing because they had lost their loved ones because they had been killed for owning land which they shouldnt have owned. It was found out during some new Land act. I did not dream it and it is factual. I must admit I do not know half of what goes on in this damn country (UK I mean) so I do not expect you to know everything in your country. I am not altogether proud of my country with its high prices, football hooligans etc and would love to live in India. I am not proud of the racism shown by English families and I have not seen any racism in India when I have been - just friendly smiles and lovely people BUT I do know there are those that suffer. |

You can find out about the 'religious basis' of caste in other threads on this site, or even in your locall library.
Read Indian news sources online every day for A year or so to gt an idea of the ground reality. Tehelka is a good on-line news source for Dallit issues. I suspect that that the story you read was probably to do with land being taken for a SEZ. Caste issues may have been a side issue, but politics and money is what it is about. I think that Shashank has hit the nail on the head. Please spend some more time researching and learning about what is actually going on before you decide to campaign against it --- here or anywhere. It will save you a lot of wated energy. As a moderator, I don't see this thread getting less confused. If there is any specific event or news item that you want to post about, then please do so with links. So thread closed.
