Nov and Dec starting in the north east
Hi,
I'm a British female looking for someone to do some travelling with this autumn. I'll be up in Sikkim for two months teaching (Sept to the beginning of Nov) and then I intend to travel to Darjeeling and from there... who knows?! I have a return flight for Calcutta at the end of December and so I'll have to work my way back for that but otherwise I have no real plans for November and December. I'm not really into beaches, I prefer trekking, rafting, exploring ect but I also like a fair amount of sitting around reading and drinking tea and beer. It'd be good to hear from any interested parties. tara for now. Victoria |

Where exactly are you teaching?
Re info on that area, I'd recommend using the very good search engine on this humble site and then maybe jump off from that point if you still have questions. All the best! |

Sunday! How wonderful. I hope you have a great trip. Yes, I have been to Sikkim. It's beautifula and, despite what it might feel like in Gangtok, very clean. You should go to see a great Lama (if you are into it) who lives in Gangtok at the Chorten Gompa. His name is Drodrupchen Rinpoche. The gompa is close to town. You might want to check first to see when he is seeing people. Usually there's a tiime of day. Bring a kata (tibetan white scarf) and a small offering (incense, flowers...) and get ready for a big blessing. He is magnificent.
There is also a great female practitioner in the area. Oh, I think she may be sick or dying. So, you might not get to see her. She is also not that far from town. Her name is Khandro Tsering Chodron. She is quite old. Go here for more info: http://www.yoniversum.nl/dakini/khan_tsering.html And you can go to the following page for my comments on other areas in Sikkim: Sikkim Permit I wish I could go with you! Have a great time. |

Sikkim is amazing. Anywhere you go there will be just great. You will meet loads of westerners in Gangtok so it may be easier to find a travelling companion there if you have no luck on here. After Darjeeling I would recommend exploring some of the North East (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh) although if you don't have a companion it may be a bit lonely cause not many westerners go there, but then again that can be part of the attraction, and the locals are friendly in my experience.
