Nepal in November... Then India for 6 months

Hey guys

I'm travelling to Nepal in late november wondering is going around that time. It would be cool if any aussies were going around that time 'cause then we could arrive in Kathmandu together. I'm a little bit worried about arriving there alone, this being my first trip and all.

Anyways get back to me if you're interested.

Cheers

Hello Dave!

I'm supposed to arrive there in November to renew my Indian Visa around the 15. However, pesonally I'm wandering what's the climate in the region of Katmandu at that time of the year?

November weather is very nice in Kathmandu. Should be nice during the day (58-68 F, 14-20 C) and chilly(48F 9C) at night. December about the same. January is colder, windy and rainy. Not the best month to be there. Over various trips I have been there in Nov., Dec. Jan., Feb., March and Nov. is really nice.

hello Camelgirl,

Good, thank for the infos! It's probably another story in the mountains. Are the hiking places in winter or non-winter conditions in November?

I trekked in March--warm/hot in the day, chilly at night-- and it was perfect but this link http://www.travel-nepal.com/trekking.html seems to have all the info you would need. I think Nov. might still be OK but it gets very cold in Dec. & Jan. You can rent whatever equipment you would need once you are there, so you don't have to carry lots of heavy gear. There may be info here on Indiamike about it. I haven't checked. I have no idea what's going on lately in Nepal as I haven't been there in quite a few years and the political situation has become very unstable. Do a bit of online research and you will have a better idea of what's going on in Nepal. It was my favorite place in all the world and where I went when I needed a "break" from the chaos of India (which I love or I wouldn't be on this forum!).

Just found this travel advisory on Nepal and thought you might find it useful. It's kind of discouraging but things haven't been good there for awhile. It is still probably OK to go there, as long as you know what's going on and are careful. It really does upset me because Nepal used to be the safest most tourist/traveler friendly place ever. I still want to go back!

I think I mistakenly implied that when I trekked in March it was this March.....it was quite a few years ago in March!!! But....March is March in any year!

Thank alot for these information. It's really nice from you, thank.

I haven't planned to go in Nepal but I received a 6 month Indian Visa last week (and I paid and asked for a one year one) and my departure is in the first week of september (can,t get there before). So I'll need to go to Katmandu to get another Indian visa. So, being there, I'll check for some trekking/other-things-to-do

I also found this link on IndiaMike that have many useful information about the current situation in Nepal (for them interested in the subject):

Thank,

I was in Nepal several years ago in October. We were trekking in the Pokhara / Siklis area during the last 10 days of October and the weather was wonderful. However, we did not get above 12,000 feet elevation. I hope the situation in Nepal improves quickly - it is a wonderful place to travel.

Yeah I hope too. However, I'll check the situation in october to see if I'm going there or elsewhere to get my other Indian visa. If the situation doesn't change drastically for the worse in next months, I don't think that I'll have any problems to visit the country for some weeks.

Any particular reason why you wanted to get your visa right now although you are leaving in September?

It's already done, I can't do anything about this

I did not know if I could had problems to get it, so I applyed before booking my plane. So... it's not really a problem because I expected to go there more than 6 months, so I should had to get another one anyway

I'll buy it in the next weeks. I'm waiting for something before buying it. However, I'm expecting to pay around 1500$CAN for a on-way ticket (From Montreal to Delhi). I do not know if my expectations are okay or not. However, I'll know the answer in next weeks

$1500 for a one way ticket is too high. Any particular reason why you are buying a one way ticket? I just checked online and Montreal-Delhi one way is $1060 + taxes.
