Mumbai - Goa - Rajestan - Delhi and Darjeeling

Only a very rough itinerary - i've got five weeks away from work and want to make the most of it. Have been to Goa with freinds before, but want to see a bit more of india this time so am heading off on my own....

Plan to spend a couple of days relaxing in Goa before heading north. Am hoping to end with two weeks in either Darjeeling or Sikkim for trekking, white water rafting and possible some rock climbing.

If you have any suggestions for places i should definately see, or things not to miss please let me know. If you plans happen to link in let me know and maybe we could meet up, and hit the road together. Am arriving in Mumbai on the 12th March but from there am fairly flexible.

Cheers

jon

Hello Orient and welcome to indiamike.com

You can get a plane from Mumbai to Diu, takes 1 hour and costs US$100, do a search on this site for info about Diu.

It will save you a lot of time and backtracking.

If you have the time, why don't you come along to
indiamike.com - London Branch's meeting on Sunday at 14:00, there will be myself and another member there, perhaps more, it should be fun.

Route

If you've seen Goa earlier, you can skip it this time.

Suggested route is Mumbai-Udaipur-Jaipur-New Delhi-Rishikesh-Dehradun- Shimla- Mandi- Bir-Billing- Dharamsala- New Delhi.

You can try white water rafting at Rishikesh and trek from Dharamsala. Also try your hand at hang gliding/para gliding at Bir, Billing.

Hi Jon,

I'm in Delhi at the moment until mid April, before I head to Dajeeling to spend the month of May. If you'll be in Delhi before then, I would love a travel partner. Please PM me, e-mail me or whatever. I would also like to go to Shimla while I'm in Delhi...Agra as well.

Cheers,
Michael
