Motorcycle tour Manali-Leh ; Leh - Srinagar

Praveen - Can you help me with the bike rental agency. The guy I talked to is charging a bomb for droping or making a bike available at a different location.

Our plan is to Start Jammu and go till Manali. Any reference who can Provide this and who will provide good bikes at a fair price?

i will not be able to spent a full moon night at the lake as on our travel dates it will be no moon night.n what was the best part of journey for you.

praveen what were the charges to stay on journey manali-leh and then at lake.

sorry i dont remember the costs, but i think keylong we spent 1k approx for a decent hotel room, then at pangong vaguely remember about 500 bucks. if someone else been there recently they can give more accurate info.

The bike rental shops plans to recieve there bike from leh like this.....according to your itnery the day you reach leh.....the bike rental guys send there riders to recieve the bikes and you`ll find them in leh same day you reach ...you just have to disclose your total itnery to bike rental guys...and the second thing which is about the security cash(refundable)...the guys who`ll be there to recieve the bikes can see the bikes condition after that they will pay your security back..

It would all depend upon where have you rented it. I do not recall the exact charges I was quoted - Need to dig some old email. But my request was to rent an enfield in Manali and asked them to surrender it at Srinagar, the cost was somewhere equal to the cost of the rent for all 2 weeks rent i.e 14000 INR (not the same figure but somewhere nearby as far as i recollect. I could be wrong but then it is not cheap by any chance.)

On a different note why not try for some enfield hire in Mumbai and take it along, I think it might work out to be better though it means hassles of loading and unloading from trains (It was a tough in pune was so easy in Kalka and again was tough to manage without bribe in mumbai.)

2 riders looking to join group to ride Manali-Leh with in late July 2012.

We are flexible on departure date etc and would fly into Kullu to rent bikes (350 or 500 Enfields?) in Manali.

Planning the same in aug 1st week but from delhi.

Maybe we could meet up in Manali? I was trying to avoid the ride from Delhi to Manali - I heard there is quite a bit of traffic on that stretch (I once drove a car all over Delhi - quite an adventure). Will you be going with a larger group?

My son and I could ride the first week of August as well, we are planning to head to Mumbai around August 9 or 10.
