MotorBike Adventure Late 2006

Hey,

I am looking into doing a short 2-3 weeks adventure around India on a motorbike or scooter around September/October 2006.

No itinerary set yet. Still working out the basic logistics.

If somebody else is interested that would be great.

I'm 25 year old Aussie male. Very easy going.

No stressheads. I don't want everydetail planned. If your interested and have no problem laughing when things don't go right let me know.

Probably looking at doing the south, coastal area. But as I said nothing is organised yet...

where rent scooter?

Hi, Doug!
Do you know a place where you can rent a scooter? Do you know prices? Please let me know. I would like to rent one somewhere near Delhi. Lall Singh seems "too good" for me, I guess...

Guys,

They don't do motor bike rental here as such. They have a guaranteed buy back where you purchase the bike and they will buy it back for an agreed price. The standard of bike is generally not very good.

Goa seems to be the place where it is easiest to organise because so many tourists head there.

Doug - 2-3 weeks around India, if you think of the Condamine gorge road as a better example of a lot the roads here, it'll give you an idea of how far you'll get.

Dear Sub_a_holic,

I was wondering about buying one, but is it not too shaky for a foreigner? I mean all the paperwork with the registration of the motorcycle to and back. Do you know such a dealer, so that I can ask for prices and details?

Thanks in advance

Zoltan,

You need to be a residant to purchase a bike here, I am hence me being able to. As for dealers, they seem to be the same as anywhere some good some bad. If your coming to Bangalore, I have seen a web site of a guy that sells vintage scooters and seem to be good. But, he exports them, so may be able to do something for you if you want to take it home again ? But, I can't vouch for him as I have never actually seen his work. Message me off here and I'll send you his link if it interests you.

Thumbs up

hey Doug,

welcome aboard man......

Roaming around in India on 2 wheels is the most adventurous and fun thing that you can expect here. Take my words.

I guess the unplanned things work magic, but being a newbie to India, it would be better if you put everything in black and white before venturing out into the wilderness of this beautiful land.

There are loads of Motorcycle freaks on IndiaMike and you'll surely get reply from them on this thread, its just the matter of time.

till then, read this and keep ur dreams alive.

keep cheking this place; our paths might cross somewhere

Cheers,

Sunil
