Looking for travel partners for Him. Pradesh/Ladakh in June/July

Hi,

I'm planning to go to a few places in Himachal Pradesh (Manali, Dharamsala, etc.) in June and going on to Ladakh in July. After a few months of planning, I think there is a good chance that my travel mate (a good friend of mine) may have to bail out. I still want to go, so I was wondering

1) how easy it is to meet other travelers in the lower Himalaya or in Ladakh in June and July

and

2) if anyone else is traveling in the area and would be interested in meeting up. If so, you can pm me or post a reply here.

Thanks!

Hi Dawn,
You should have no problem meeting other travellers in those areas. Bagsu (nr. Dharamsala) will be packed, as will Manali, parvati valley, Leh.... the list is endless. Would love to meet up, but won't be in India until August at the earliest!
enjoy,
Matt

Hi Dawn,

Me and my boyfriends are planning to go to Ladakh in june/july.
We will also visit some places in HP (Dharamsala, Manali). Planning of our trip: Delhi - Amritsar-Dharamsala-Manali-Leh (trekking).
I think it will be no problem of meeting other travellers.
We arrive in Delhi on 20th june. Maybe we will meet each other

With respect to Indyboys post, Manali is currently dead as the proverbial doornail. The main town is full of Indian tourists, but westerners are non existent in old Manali, Vashist, Naggar and in fact anywhere in the locality. In 10 years I have never seen it like this at the end of May. It was actually busier in mid March than it is now, and a lot of local faces are looking like doom incarnate. My guest house owner suggested tonight (jokingly) that he'll be sending the family to town tommorrow with begging bowls. If there is 5 percent of the usual summer crowd, I would be surprised.

McLeod Ganj is apparently packed for the Dalai Lama's birthday, as is Kasol in Parvati valley, to the point that getting a room is apparently a serious problem.

If anyone has any insights into why Manali is this deserted, I'd be interested to hear.
