Looking for people to meet in Gujarat, Jan 2010

Hi guys, I'm going to be travelling to Gujarat in January 2010, hoping to meet some people my age (23) to hang out with as I'll be there for a month or so, staying with family.

A bit about me, I'm British-Asian with Gujarati roots (my parents are Gujarati but were actually raised in Uganda until they were evicted in the 70's) though I'm ashamed to say my Gujarati speaking skills are awful.

Like I said, I'm just looking to meet friendly people to waste some time with while I'm there, and possibly travel further with if the right opportunity comes along.

Also, and this is a long shot, I can speak a lot of Japanese (I worked in Japan for some time) so if there're any other Japanese speaking British-Asian Ugandan-rooted Gujarati's around, feel free to send me a PM! Hehe

Welcome to IndiaMike, RJani, and I hope you find some like-minded young people to hang out with in Gujerat.

I recall meeting some Kenyan Asians who had just been expelled from Uganda when I was in Goa in 1971 or 1972. They had a lot of adapting to do, and their story was very sad. I imagine it was so for your parents, as well.

My roots are also in gujarat. Got migrated to india after staying in states for couple of years. Not as young as you are but not even too old (26). I am currently working in Mumbai and I do visit Gujarat once in a month. May be we can catch up if I visit Gujarat in Jan.

by the way which city in gujarat. I am from vadodara.

By the way, i am 24 year old, and i returned from US in october, after 2 and half years. So i very much know what NRIs like and what they don't as i have many friends of indian origin over there.
