looking for a travel partner for a car trip to leh in mid june

hi ! I m lokesh bhalla,36 yrs ,frm mumbai.i m planning to go to leh around 15 th of june for .i wil b driving a maruti swift (though i know,muv's or suv's r preffered for leh ). I wil b starting frm mumbai to leh via srinagar.i m looking for a partner for this trip,as i m solo.(though i wud luv to drive myself,evry inch i travel.) a partner who can double up as a standby driver would be an advantage.i have experience of driving in hills before,but going to leh for th first time.anybody interested can join in.the exact schedule ,we can plan,it is flexible. Thnx ..cheers !

hi buddy i am also travel freak like u i have hyundai i10 and every year i go to manali in the month of june , i can join u if u want , i am a male age 29 in computers buisness i have been to sarchu on my zenpetrol in the year 2004 in the way to leh but because of landslide we have to come back. i have lots of knowledge about leh , so if u r intersted we can both go .

What I meant was I drive a Palio in BLR and hence qualify as a driving partner.....as Lokesh had pointed out. But am totally alright as a navigator considering.

hi!, guys(shashank,shephherd,deepak ,puchoo) thanks for the response.its nice to meet other likeminded people here.the speed at which i m getting response on the first day of starting the thread,i think by the time i m set to leave,we need a bus to travel,instead of my car.ha ha ha.its going to be a big gang.

i have planned it roughly around 15th of june from mumbai.it wil be a trip for around 18-20 days for me starting from mumbai and back.i will go via srinagar and come back from leh via manali.i have decide it to be this way becoz,going through srinagar will give me more time to get acclamatise, instead of going thru manali.i will be there in and around leh for 4-5 days.

actually,i will prefer(just prefer, not rigid about it) a partner who can join me for the full journey,from mumbai and back.i still have lot of time to find one.(onle one, coz i think thers not enough space for more than two people with luggage in a swift,on this kind of trip) so not in a hurry to finalise it immedeately.will speak to all u guys.and like,shashank and puchho said, cant we join at delhi or wherever u want,and have more than one vehicle going together?it will be fun, if a bunch of enthusiastic people like us plan to go together.what u say, guys ?

hi lokesh...i was travelling from mumbai to manali and would not mind going upto leh....but only problem is that i am not alone i am along with my wife and 9yrs daughter.i am leaving mumbai on 15th June and have leave till 30th june..will be in manali from 19th june to 23 june.

if yes then how did it go... I also intend to take similar trip to manali in a car. I have a few questions

is it possible to hire a self driven small car like indica or palio in delhi.

How much will it cost and is it feasable to take it to manali to leh and return via srinagar.

secondly is the road ok for such cars. and

what are the backups if the car breaks down in between

Jagjot, getting a self driven car will be costly and difficult anyways try to avoid car with low ground clearance else you in double trouble. 1) of ruining someone else car & 2) worst of getting stuck in-between of no-where.

July 5 Delhi to Manali in a taxi leave delhi at 5 am reach manali by 8 pm
July 6 aclamatisation in Manali with local sightseeng
July 7 Manali to Kaylong leave Manali by 6 am reach Keylong by evening rest in a tourist camp
July 8 Kaylong to Leh leave Kaylong by 7 am and reach Leh by evening rest in a guest house
July 9 Leh Khardungla pass return to guest house
July 10 Tso Mori trip
July 11 local Leh sight seeng trip
july 12 Leh Sarchu start by morning 6 am reach Sarchu by late afternoon/evening stay at tourist camp
July 13 Sarchu Manali leave by morning 6 am reach Manali by evening
July 14 leave Manali by 10 am reach Delhi same day by midnight

cost of the trip inclusive of stay(excluding food) on 4 people sharing basis Rs 10,000 each
