Ladakh, motorcycle trip advice and buddies

hi to all indiamikers friend i am planing to vist leh ladahak well i want to know about this place about road direction from rishikesh to ladakh or delhi to ladakh where to stay what to carry which motorcycle is the best for this region and also looking for a travel buddies for this trip bec i know that travel on this trip alone not easy .so please people help me .if there is any goup who are planing to visit ladakh they can tell me and i can join that group also .

Dont Worry i am just back from a trip from ladakh.the roads are too bad from manali -leh streach.they are doing the process of bi-laning.the good thing is you will surely find lots of people going to leh from manali.just wait there for couple of days in manali and enquire at few motorbike lending shops.or you can catch people on the way.about bikes people do it in enfield,avenger though any bike would do.i have seen bajaj discover on the route.dont worry about bikes too.just stick with a group.you will be fine.

well thanks for that useful information santosh but tell me how can i get there in manali i am in rishikesh right now i have to come back to delhi and then take that same route of delhi to manali or there is any route of rishikesh to manali and how much kilometer is that and and how much you pay for the hotel in ladhak and if i go with my camps can i do camping on my own there

from Rishikesh one need to come to Haridwar and from haridwar one can catch bus to Manali.

distance from Haridwar to Manali is 550 kms, The route is Saharanpur-Ambala-Chandigarh-sundarnagar-Mandi-manali
there is one more route thru poanta sahib but dont know abt the bus plying on that route. for that route you need to go rishikesh to dehradoon and then dehradoon to shimla and further. and for motorcycle i will prefer BULLET as the best machine. jsut need to carry some spares. you will find many groups at manali going to leh. can talk and get accommodated

well i am looking to drive on my own motorcycle i have 4 bikes which is the best options bullet,karisma,cbz,and discover i belive on discover the most bec i take this bike to char dham route also and we easily get mechanic of this bike on any route i think .and can you tell me full road direction detail of this route dehradoon to shimla hope you dont mine .

you can definately go on discover. i prefer BULLET because one can carry a lot of stuff on it. take the one on which you feel comfortable. route is dehradoon-ponta sahib-nahan-sarahan-shimla.

well tilak i feel comfortable on both bike but break down is the big issue in this trip i heart that find an bullet mechanic is not easy on this route thats why i am bit worry about it other wise bullet is my first choice for this route a part from this is there is any other route where i can visit direct rishikesh to manali and how much kilometer it is or if i take this shimala route i have to cross rothang after shimla and how is shimla from rishikesh

on manali-leh route, out of the total bikes going you will find 60-70% BULLETS. its still individuals choice.and one more important thing... if you are going on this route on BIKE then you must have some repairing knowledge in case of some minor breakdown like changing snapped cables, changing clutch plates, tube changing, carburator adjustment etc. major breakdown very rarely happens. there is no other route then mentioned above 2

i have seen couple of buses to haridwar from manali.In ladakh you have hotels for all kinds of budgets.only food is costly in remote places like spangmik or hunder(resonably costly).see you can manage it within 500 a day for room and there is no need for tent.except at sarchu where tent is 1000 rs if you bargain well .again there are beds in road side tea shops at zinzibar(near to sarchu,comes before sarchu when u go from manali-leh) where you can get cheap bed for rs 100.

if you go with your camp,you can camp at campoing grounds paying a moderate fee.i dont know much abt it as i didnt do camping.

thanks for that all useful information a part from this can you share other information about that place is this place is famous for white water rafting and magnetic field i heart lots about that place

magnetic field .get a local fdriver he will show you what it is.basically when bring your vehicle(only 4 wheelers) slowly to stop(dont brake hard and bring it to absolute rest) and bring to neutral the vehicle starts moving up the slope.(you can observe this phenomeneon when travelling from leh-srinagar and motion is towaards srinagar.(atleast for us it only went up the slope towards srinagar)).

every hotel will have travel desk or atleast know a trekking agent or rafting guy.first get to know about your hotel.if the guys are good ,you can approach them else try people in market.they are quite alot of them you wouldnt miss.
