just one more try: Karn/TN this summer

Karnataka in July

17 days before I will fly to Bangalore. After some days with Indian friends there and in Hampi, I will move on alone to Badami. People here and elsewhere on internet helped me out already on this subject, but any pesonal suggestions on where to go and stay (friendly places rather then too cheap or too expensive ones) in Badami and region (I've read my LP and Footprint on the issue) are still very welcome. People who care for sharing cost and fun of a car&driver for a few days in the same region or in Madurai/Kodaikanal/Palani, please reply as well...my third South India trip, excited about it....

I hope you can find some company for that part of the trip, P ... I'd love to see Badami but not until October or November.

Perhaps you'll find some company in Bangalore. I know you are staying with friends but perhaps a visit to MG Road will enable you to meet some friendly folks.

Lekker reis

I'm sure you'll have a great trip. I like having company on trains and sometimes in towns, but am just as happy on my own -- I'm not used to taking anyone's wishes into consideration for daily life and it becomes more difficult every year! <g>

Zo... just a few more days for you, heh? Your eyes must be glowing!

they burn in a feverish glow, yes....consideration, ah yes ... to get rid of it just for a couple of weeks is so exhilarating, Grietje... (= mädchen/meisje/girl....do you know that?) ...and my first trip with a credit card bought ticket...so Schiphol will be extra exciting (bit nervous...brrr)

groet,

Peter

Ah, you'll have such a good time that it won't bother you at all to pay off that credit card!

Meisje? Hah! Ik ben een ouwe vrouw. Ney, ik kent het niet... dankjewel, ik zal m'n naam wissel!

Schipol is a great airport. Totally non-smoking, except that just before the tube that takes you to security & check in is a table with an ashtray, and a couple of frantic smokers.

totally non-smoking, brrrr...I do not care for cigarets, but a cigar just before taking of...watching the planes getting ready behind the huge windows near the gates...actually last year, before flying to istanbul, I found a bar opposite such window, with cool beer AND the allowance to smoke....has Schiphol changed it's policy overnight?

Dag Gretchen,

Oh, I don't know Schiphol's policies; I think the "non-smoking" was posted but not sure. That was 2001...

Sorry for you Gretchen (suffering because of smokers?), in 2002 I smoked my cigar with a Heineken in the other hand, very much on/in Schiphol....

Hug,

Peter

No, I wasn't suffering... I sat down and smoked a cigarette before heading back to the USA. I thought it was very practical of the Dutch (as they always are).
