I & my wife are doing the road trip to Leh in Aug this year. to introduce us ... I am a banker with ABN

We would be glad to have 1 -2 companions for the road trip .. Manali to Leh. Our tentative plan is as follows :


day 14. Day 1 Fly Delhi to Kullu. departure 8:45 arrival 10 am. Cost Appx. 4000 per person Day 1 Drive Kullu to Keylong, Jispa stay overnite in a hotel. 4 - 5 hours drive including the awesome Rohtang Pass. Cost Rs. 500 ¨C 1500 per room. Depending on hotel availability + Food Costs.

day 15. Day 2 Jispa - Sarachu - 5 hours drive O/nite camping in Sarchu Cost Rs. 500 ¨C 1500 per tent Ready made tents already available . Depending on hotel availability + Food Costs.

day 16. Day 3 Sarachu - Leh 8 hours drive (departure 6 am am arrival 3 pm). Need to start early to ensure that we have margins for any stoppage on the way & make it to Leh in time.

day 17. Day 4 - Leh Monastries trip ¨C local sight seeing.

day 18. Day 5 /

day 19. day 6 Nubra valley .. stay overnite at the valley. (planning to hire a taxi which costs appx. Rs. 5000 for the trip.

day 20. Day 7/ 8 Pang Yong lake - between india & china .. I am trying to pull a link with an Army friend to be able to get some exclusive trips into the lake!! Supposed to really
privliging & rare.

day 22. Shweta would Fly back to Delhi. & I would take on a 4 - 5 Mountain Climbing trip / trek. to & follow it up with a flight back to Delhi.

we are starting from delhi on the 14th.

Wasting that day .. you´ll be lucky just feeling wasted after camping around a thousand meters higher the night after Keylong or Jispa.

Acclimatisation to Leh´s altitude (3500) is not done safely by ascending to that altitude in a couple of hours , sleeping 800 meters higher than that on the second night can be anything betweeen uncomfortable and harrowing (or worse) and the consequences of any lengthy delay the next day , at altitudes close to Everest Base Camp are unthinkable. This is not uncommon , I´ve been in that position twice.
I know that it´s being done all the time , and most people make it more or less unscathed , but they at least have the advantage of some time spent around 2000 meters before.Eliminating that night in Manali is a brand new level of recklessness.

I won´t elaborate on this after responding to the same identical post in a third (!) thread , and they have their right to in a manner of speaking re-sizing their parachutes... but not to turn it in to tandem jumping.

Anyone who considers this road trip should read up on safe ascent guidelines before checking in at the Vomit Hilton on August 15th.
