..and would love to find someone around my age (I'm 21) to travel with. I want to stay for a while, once I'm done with my program (I'm studying the basics of Ayurveda and other forms of traditional healing), and I would love to see as much of India as I can.

I'm particularly interested in the spirituality, healing, animals, and architecture of India, and I've started learning some Hindi, so hopefully I'll be able to make basic conversation by the time this month is up.

Let me know if you'll be around or are interested. I'm currently in the north, but I'll go pretty much anywhere.

spirituality...
check out vrindavan...
it has everything... spirituality, animals, architecture and healing.
and since it is just 150 kms from new delhi, so one can go and come back to delhi on the same day... and if one wants to stay there for a few days, that option is also available...
and if you are looking for companion(s) who might join you in your spiritual quest, yes you are lucky... there are people who are always ready to visit this holy place and are just looking for a reason...
thanks and best of luck...

Hi...if you are in south try visiting Mysore and the ramana maharshi ashram in Pondicherry and mahabaipuram and Kanchi for architecture.

If you are in the north, do try Rishikesh, Vrindavan and Varanasi for spirituality.

Give more information about which part of India u will be in so that IM members can advise you better.

Pay Close attention to what Globetrotter has said !

For Ancient Architecture, Southern India will be better, North has faced too many invasion and nothing ancient remains.

Mughal Architecture - Agra & Delhi

Culture - Varanasi, Pushkar

Yoga/Meditation - Rishikesh, Mysore

I did not fully understand the dread term "Terminal Illness" until I saw Terminal 1 D of Delhi Airport.

I absolutely second that advice.

By all means go out and meet new people and enjoy India. Just be careful and you'd do just fine.

Good luck!
Cheers
