Hi,

I have been to Goa many times (6/7) but never during the new year. Couple of important points to note:

1. The rates are atleast 3 times more than what it is during the other months of the year.
2. Its pretty crowded during new year, if you have not booked accomodation yet -- good luck now
3. USually north Goa is much happening and south Goa is very calm. So you can choose where to stay base on ur preferences
4. In north Goa there are many beach and club parties , usually the Anjuna Beach and Calungute beaches are supposed to good parties.

And BTW i am also there in Goa from 28th Dec to 2nd Jan. We can meet up if you are free. I am travelling alone.

Regards,
Johny

Thanks, Johny.

Few questions though:

1. My friend told me that you can avoid the regular hotels and can rent a place i.e locals also rent their flats/homes and that's a cheap option. Any advise?
o?
2. I've heard a lot about club cobana...is it closed? any famous clubs where I must go?

3. Howz the weather like? What should I pack?

4. Any places of historic seignificance? I dont wanna miss out on anything..as I hardly get time to escape my shity work schedule so I wanna make most of it.

Thanks once again in advance and sure would love to get in touch with you once I am there.

Cheers!!!!!

Depeds on ur budget and also what u want to do. Coz these guest houses (as they are called) may not have a pool and some other facilities, and yes they are cheaper then regular hotels

2. I've heard a lot about club cobana...is it closed? any famous clubs where I must go?
I have not heard about Cobana. But there is a place called Titos... which is supposed to be real good.

3. Howz the weather like? What should I pack?
Weather very pleasant during this time. No need for fear of Chilly waether guess u shud pack couple of sweaters just in case else you can travel light.

4. Any places of historic seignificance? I dont wanna miss out on anything..as I hardly get time to escape my shity work schedule so I wanna make most of it.

Yes, the OLD goa has lots of Churches which are famous, you can visit them during the day time. Old goa is away from the sea (about 20/25 km).

You also get bikes and cars for rent to move around in Goa. Bikes might cost you around 300/- per day (But not sure how much it might be during the new years time period. If u are into music i think there is a SunBurn Festival which u can attend. The details are at this Website. http://www.sunburn-festival.com/2009/index.html.

I am also researching more ad more for this time period, will update if i get addtnl information.

Yes defintely we can catch up at Goa. Let me know thru this forum abt ur stay details and we can catch up.

Cheers!!
