From Darjeeling to Kathmandu

Hi

I'm currently in Darjeeling planning to go to Kathmandu sometime in the next few days.

Is there anyone in Darjeeling or Siliguri who fancies linking up for this trip?

You have my sincere best wishes
In 5 trips of six months each to India this is the worst trip i ever done
It really is a nightmarish journey...
However it does run through tremendous visuals
Also as I'm sitting in an office in Scotland at the moment I would kill to be in your position geting ready to take that journey hahaha
Also the road may have improved as I done this journey abck in 1994

Good luck and remember....You'll meet people on the bus and if not on the bus definetly at the chai stop
Enjoy ...and by a couple of sleepers

Hi,
i am in Darjeeling and have just done this journey in the opposite direction. I spent 2 days doing it and am glad i did as it is a long way and the buses and roads are not great. I went KMU to Janakpur (8hrs) and then Janakpur to Darjeeling (about 14hrs incl border control etc). If you can do it this way in reverse as at least you get a nights sleep on the way and dont miss any scenery on the way. I spent 7 weeks in Nepal and this journey involved the least army check points and was the most hassle free of all the bus journeys i did although it was long and tiring.

Enjoy Nepal its great!
