Friends for a cycle trip from Manali to Leh Hi there, I will be in Manali around June 10th, and will then be either making moves to cycle to Leh, or around the Spiti Valley, whatever works well weather wise. If anyone out there is interested in a wicked cycling adventure with a New Zealand wilderness lover, get in touch. Peace Toddy

Hello Todd, The snow would have been just cleared by June 10 on the Manali - Leh Highway. The weather would be cold with lot of uncertainties that it might snow again when you are out. We are a group of 3 bikers and would have loved to join you. But, your dates are little too early. We are planning in July/August. Let us know if you reconsider your plans. In all cases. I wish for this trip. The place is a heaven. Mayur

Hi Todd Well yes .. lots of snow now and monsoon showers in July. I think that the period from end June - mid July should be good. I figured out that the trip would take 12 days to complete from Manali - Leh on bicycles. Are you bringing your own bike, tent, sleeping bags, etc. or you will be purchasing it from India? I am proposing the dates as 28 June - 9 July 2009. Do you think you will be able to come with us. Of course we can shift dates. What is your email or IM address?

Great dates Hey Mayu, Great to hear back from you. I will be renting my gear (everything) from a cycle guide in Manali. Sounds like a good guys. Those dates are perfect for me, I have to be back in Delhi on the 13th of July, so I'll only have few days in Leh, so a departure date of say June 25 might make things easier on my side. Get touch with me on my email tchaplin81@gmail.com I am staying in the buddhist monastery in Dharamshala, but will be checknig email for the next few days, and then i'll be back out of retreat on the 15th June. Organzing this ride doesn't sound too difficult, and I really hope we can make it work. I will probably bus from Leh back to Manali to return the guys biking gear, or fly back to Delhi from Leh. If you have a cell phone you could also give your number to me. Talk soon. Very excited! Toddy
