Cycling Partners Nepal-India
Is anybody willing to join me in a cycle from Pokhara along the Mahendra highway into India? I will be leaving in December and plan to cycle anti-clockwise around the coast of India until I reach Chennai. I have up to 7 months to travel around but would be interested in hearing from anybody who would join me on any stretch of the journey.

You might ask JPJ, who is travelling down south from the north in December... you guys might be able to cycle together if and whenever your routes match...

Costs for cycling
The biggest cost is going to be your airfare and a bike if you buy it in India. The bike you can probably sell on so that shouldn't be too much. Apart from that it all depends what quality of life you expect. If you budget for $20(US) a day then you should be quite comfortable. After all, it is only meals and accommodation (+beer) that you need. Sharing rooms makes things a lot cheaper. I don't have a fortune for my travels but have enough space in overdraft / credit card not to be concerned. I reckon, although this is a complete guess, that $1000(US) would be enough for 2 months spending money + maybe $200(US) for a bike, which you'd get some money back for. If this is too much then without some creature comforts you could probably get away with spending less. Can anybody else give a better indication of costs, etc.

Are you speaking about bikes manufactured in India/? If yes then in India cycles costing 200$'s are unheard of... one of the best Indian manufactured cycles from the Hero stable would cost you around 100$ US. Which is called Hero Thunder, alluminium bike with 21speed Shimano.
