My boyfriend I will also be there in October. Wondering where your ashrams are that you are staying? Are they yoga type or meditation type?

Other ashrams

Two notable gurus that went unmentioned in your posting are found at:

The Art of Living Foundation in Bangalore, Karnataka (Shri Shri Ravi Shankar)

and,

Isha Yoga in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (Guru Jaggi Vasudev)

Both point to the Truth.

Also, there is handy book "From Here to Nirvana" that highlights ashrams and spiritual teachers in India. It is a worthwhile travel companion.

I wouldn't plan this trip to carefully in advance, because you'll need to feel your way through it. Personally, I enjoyed Sai Baba's ashram in Puttaparthi, as if I were in some Indian Disneyland, yet didn't hang around many days. However in Pune at Osho's place I found that long stays are delightful.

Stay open.

Advaita tradition

In Mumbai, Ramesh Balsekar is having satsangs at his house. You can ask questions, and he will respond on it.
(you can sit quietly as well).
Balsekar was present as translator, at the satsangs of the former Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

You'll have a great time!

I stayed in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry for 2 months during Oct-Nov 1972. I met Ekehart from Germany there and we took his VW van ahram-hopping for the next month. We went to the Rama Maharshi Ashram and hiked up to the place were he taught, then to see Sai Baba and hung out with the Europeans there. Then we saw J. Krishnamurti in Bangalore, a place in Mangalore, and then I stayed 10 days at the Sri Gurudev Ashram (Swami Muktananda) in Ganeshpuri outside of Bombay. I loved it. I met some of the most beautiful people I'd ever met while traveling for 13 months. I left the ashram because I thought if there really is God, I should be able to experience him anywhere! It wasn't that easy. The place and the people and the energy do matter. It was all very lovely and very confusing. All the philosophies make you just want to sit and relax, enjoy the view and have a beer, and be glad you're alive.

Stay open-minded and be true to yourself. You will get a lots of advice.

After 33 years away, I'm going back to India - to Auroville and beyond Dec 5 - Dec 18.

I hope you have a great time. You will find India to be at the heartbeat of the world.
