Uttaranchal ready to host Asia Climbing Cup

The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi (Uttaranchal) is
giving finishing touches to conduct the Asia Climbing Cup from November 19 to 21.

India is hosting this prestigious international meet for the first
time. The competition will include men and women's 'Difficulty' and
'Speed' events.

Ten Asian countries are expected to take part. Hosted by the Indian
Mountaineering Foundation, the team of each country will consist of 6
male and 6 female members. India being the host will field a 10-member
male and equally number of women climbers in the Asia Cup.
Principal of the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) Colonel Ashok
Abbey said, "The 15 mts artificial wall for the competition is almost
ready. Presently a camp for Indian Climbing team is going on here and
it will continue till the end of the month."

The NIM climbing wall is the first of its king in the country and it
especially constructed for this international meet.

The winner (men/ women) in difficulty event will pocket US $ 1500,
runners up US $ 1000 US and second runners-up US $ 700.
In the Speed event (men/women) the first prize is 750 US dollars,
second 500 US dollars and third 300 US dollars.

The consolation prize is 350 US $ (difficulty) and 150 American dollars (Speed).

Besides top international climbers, the Asian Climbing Cup will bring
top-notch officials of International climbing to Uttarkashi.
