Send a message via Yahoo to sudheer poppa
Try this option..

My wishes and prayers for a safe return...

In the meanwhile, I suggest this option for those who have some time in their hand..

Go to this subsection and read through the posts where members have visited Kashmir or Srinagar.

http://www.indiamike.com/india/forumdisplay.php?f=30

Send a private message or email to the members asking for contact information in Srinagar or trustworthy people who could help with information.. Not many of those memeber are active now, hence email option if available would be a better way out.

I could have tried to do it myself, but I am tied on time as well as I dont have enough pm space to send messages to many memeber .....

All the very best to you...

Also I can see a repeat post by Kellychen in the kashmir subforum, I suggest between you please try to coordinate and help out.. I shall try to see if I can get some non IM sources in the meanwhile..

You might want to talk to members Jock and Di

Who last year, also mounted a campaign to find their missing son Ryan!!

They were very successful in getting the word out, maybe they can help you with some ideas on finding your friend!!

Good luck

Unhappy Kashmir: Missing tourist's body found

Dear All backpackers,

Just today we got this news from Kashimir. It's heartbroken news from Kashimir today, Julie's body found.

*********

Kashmir: Missing tourist's body found

Mukhtar Ahmad In Srinagar | April 08, 2006 11:37 IST
Last Updated: April 08, 2006 13:28 IST

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday morning recovered the body of a Taiwanese tourist, who was missing since March 22.

The police said a few locals found the body of 52-year-old Huang Sui Chin floating in Srinagar's Nageen Lake.

The body was taken to the police control room where the victim's daughter, who arrived in Srinagar early in the morning, identified a surgical mark on the body, confirming the identity.

The body has been sent for autopsy, but a senior police officer said there were 'no visible external marks that may lead us to cause of death'.

"Chin had checked into a houseboat in Dal Lake and had told the houseboat owner that she was going to send a message to her family about her safe arrival," said a police officer.

The police and security forces had launched a massive search operation to trace her.

Officials fear the mysterious death may jolt the expected record arrival of tourists this year in Kashmir.

The state government has been making extensive efforts to woo tourists to the valley.
