Travel News: You make the call

On a flight from Buffalo International Airport to Phoenix, a student and his wife were denied boarding.

Quote:
Arijit Guha and his wife were recently denied boarding on a Delta flight because the writing on his T-shirt read "‘Bombs ZOMG ZOMG Terrists."
In his defense, Arijit, a doctoral student, had this to say -

Who is right ? who is not ?

The airlines, being private companies, can make any dress code rules they want to. http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/A...at-3814872.php

Agreed. But whatever rules they make, they have to consistently apply it, lest it becomes a discrimination issue. Restaurants can deny a person entry on grounds of hygiene or dress code; but that they tolerate one kind, and bar another, was the debate during desegregation.

Airlines are guided by contract of carriage. Which typically deals with federal regulations, and flight safety and economics issues. It side steps many hard issues with wizzy-wuz weasle words.

A clever dic* misses his flight, would have loved to see his face when they told him.

I've got an extreme sense of humor, and don't much like being told that I'm wrong, but like the rest of the world I know there's no messing about at airports, period.

SOS: Missing Person...

Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

I completely agree, Steven B.
I have an extreme sense of humour too but I'd like to think I know where to draw the line on most occassions. Setting out to piss off airline security just isn't clever and the guy possibly got more of a reaction than he was bargaing for.

I do think he was daft to wear that t-shirt in the airport.

However not letting him fly after they fully checked him out and were confident he wasn't a threat is nonsensical

I get more concerned when they dump a person praying in Hebrew. Guess, its all the same them fureners. But on topic, you are warned not to even joke in the airport. Still, homeland security is a pathetic and expensive joke..

If i was rich, a master wordsmith, owned my own legal firm, and maybe had a black belt in origami oh and lots of time on my hands---i'd go the jugular on those security dudes. When i go to the airport these days, the court jester hat and the T-Shirt that says "Land right's for gay whales" is tucked away in my checked in luggage, along with my knives and sling shot---I dress up like Mr conservative and be happy and friendly to all---I'm more focused on networking the drinks to keep flowing, and scoring one of those semi-mythical upgrades.

I would normally agree, but his cancer tipped the scales 51-49 in his favour for me.

Hints from Heloise

Don't yell "bomb" at an airport.

Don't yell "fire" in a crowded theatre.

Unless it is the real thing. Use common sense. The "bomb" t-shirt fashion is so 9/10. It has gone out of style for the rest of this reincarnation.

Last month, Suzy McLeod received the backing of more than half a million Facebook users after the airline charged her €300 to print out five boarding passes before a flight from Alicante to Bristol.
What do you think ? Guess what the Ryan Air boss thought -

Quote:
But the Ryanair boss branded her “stupid” for falling foul of the airline’s boarding card reissue rules.

“We think Mrs McLeod should pay €60 for being so stupid,” he said.
Tsk ! Tsk ! Tsk !....

Should they punish pax who forget to print their boarding card ?

Well, I tend to agree that Ms Suzy McLeod is an idiot for forgetting to print her boarding card, no matter what half a million time-wasters on Facebook think.
The truth is that low cost airlines are low cost because they eliminate sytems and services that other airlines charge for. The cost savings are then passed on to those who choose to fly budget. The end result is that poor Suzy didn't have her boarding passes and the passengers in the queue behind her would have had to wait in line while the check-in staff dealt with her misfortune. I'd be fairly confident that Suzy and her mates didn't apologise to them for the delay and the subsequent scene she no doubt caused.
Really, if you can't get it together to print your boarding pass maybe you are better staying behind your own front door!

This is an easy one

This one is easy. However, you decide ! Would you wear layers of undergarments to save a few bucks ?

Quote:
According to Guangzhou Daily, the man's luggage exceeded the weight limit. He did not want to pay the extra baggage costs, and thus took out and wore more than 60 shirts and nine pairs of jeans.
