Track the Monsoons 2008
http://www.imd.ernet.in/section/nhac...c/mon-prog.htm
is the Indian Met. Dept's website to track the progress of this years monsoons. http://www.imd.ernet.in/section/satm.../sector-ir.htm is a handy satellite picture to refer to, and certainly far more accurate than the daily news, for deciding whether to carry your umbrella or not ! |

Great tip, snonymous. As we are still deciding if we want to go to India during the monsoon.

have you ever tried chasing the rains???
in bangalore, sometimes it is/was possible to do that - as the showers sometimes can be cloud bursts! and as the wind shifts the cloud - so rain shifts too! good fun!!! :brishti [ hey snonymous - if i dont find that particular thread, just wanted to tell you - them orchid pics were awesome! thank you for sharing ] |

Kamaldeep: The satellite image is quite accurate as its updated every few hours, certainly better than the TV weather forecast ! |

In the good old days of limited fresh water, standing instructions, day and night were- In case you saw a squall, intercept it, and call the crew out and soap and hardbrush as much of the deck and superstructure that you could manage to do. Back on topic, the met department says so far that monsoons are 4 days early. Hope there is no pressure system buildup to delay this- its hot.
