Very sad to hear...so the water situation hasn't improved. I've really enjoyed visiting the bird sanctuary in the past and have been looking forward to returning one day.

So it was true then a tigress did use the green corridors from Ranthambore and reached Bharatpur!!
So few saw her I was begining to doubt her existance!
It brings tears to my eyes to have her existance solidified in this way!!
I only hope sense prevails this coming monsoon, the body of opinion I listened to thought there was enough water in the dam both fot irrigation and the needs of the bird park.
It seems there was a bit of poliyical shennaigins going on and the birds were the last consideration.
Don't get me wrong I see the need for water to be used first for agriculture I'm just not sure this was the case at Bharatpur!!

So so sad to lose a tiger anyway but for this well, it makes the heart weep!!

I was told about this tiger by some of the staff at Bharatpur a couple of years ago. They also told me there was no real danger to humans, as there was plenty of natural prey around in the form of spotted deer, so we continued to cycle along the paths in the more remote dry areas. Didn't spot her though.

As the park is bone dry I imagine she died from lack of water - I'm sure tigers can normally cope with high temperatures. It's just another sad chapter in the total mismanagement of Keoladeho.
