yeah, didnt think about the Hero's mother/sister bit. Though in the classic plot(s) the mother/sister is "kidnapped" by the villian and tied up maybe but never beaten up or murdered (correct me if I am wrong).

When there is rape or other violence against women, it is kind of inferred rather than graphically potrayed. Though I can think of atleast one major exception ....

Domestic violence on TV? I am out of touch, isnt it just a lot of shouting/screaming rather than violence?

what makes SRK a good actor is that he's entertaining! which brings me to the crux of the thread, IMHO.

Bollywood hadn't changed its basic premIse in generations. You know going in what's on offer. So why lament a samosa for not being a 5 star meal?

As an old ad in USA once said
"People don't want tunas with good taste,
People want tunas that taste good!"

I hope there isn't one like that! glorifying is an extreme situation. i was alluding to the matter-of-fact way in which domestic violence is treated - it is shown so frequently on TV nowadays.

same comment ( on glorification ) on religious violence too. thankfully it is being treated a little more sensibly and instances of it appearing in movies is also quite less.

good points, i agree. my post was just to highlight the negative stereotypes.
