Taj under sun, a tourist nightmare

The vast and open-air surroundings that add to the beauty of the Taj Mahal are proving to be a major dampener for tourists as they brave the Indian summer and come in thousands to the 17th century marble wonder.

With no shade from the scorching sun, visitors are finding the Taj experience in the ongoing heat wave not exactly what they had bargained for. Full Story

I was there about a week ago... very hazy (and hot). I carried a couple bottles of water inside my backpack, and no one said anything...

The security people at the gate DID take away my tripod and a pack of M&Ms!! LOL

Then again, I live in Arizona so I'm used to being outside in 45+ temps.

Isn't marble usually cool even in direct sunlight?

Marble heats up like a frying pan in direct sunlight. One of the best pieces of advice I picked up before heading to the Taj was to bring an extra pair of socks so you're not walking on the sometimes freezing, sometimes burning marble in bare feet or a single pair of socks.

Thumbs up Get there at 6am

I would never want to see the amazing spectacle of the Taj with hundreds or thousands of others! Get to the gates by 6 am & take a torch & watch the light rise over the Taj. Unforgettable & unmissable to us!
