machadinha What is interesting in this, and in the Biblical context mentioned above, is that lesbianism is not even recognized,
As far as old Levi is 'purported' to say "Thou shalt not lay with mankind, as with woman kind : it is an abomination."

I would take that as meaning man and woman but I would also see it as an abomination to lay with anyone, animals are in the next verse but it seems ok to lay with daisy as long as there is no gender.

Hm yes Mirabai as so often it's all a matter of interpretation, some question if the Hebrew word refers to men or fornication at all. I know Christian fundamentalists like to refer to it and some other texts though. Not being a Christian myself I think the whole matter is rather silly, as is the religion as a whole. Wikipedia has some further articles on the matter which unsurprisingly perhaps are all deemed controversial.

Hum hon Gay kamyaab is their new slogan
Gay march demanded free sexual identities and equal rights
Express Features Service

Mumbai, August 16: PINK balloons and painted faces stood out amidst the rush of office-goers on a grey evening at Flora Fountain.
A row of people, who held up banners with catchlines that would make a copywriter proud, stood next to the statue.

‘Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua Queer Hua To Kya Hua’ screamed a multi-coloured banner. While some passers-by didn’t hide their smirks, a handful participated in a signature drive to amend Section 377.

Most of the lesbians I know went to convent schools and they feel that not being with men at an early age could have caused them to go Lesbo.

Either way I ain't complaining. Watching two lesbos making out is quite a turn on to most guys. Even more fun if you get invited to join in

I think these are the Gay Bombay guys. They have a website and are a pretty interesting bunch. Sadly many of them get beat up regularly by the local cops, goondas and drunks at bars.

Chances are if they are really lesbians....you wouldn't be watching let alone be invited in. (but a guy can always hope I suppose )

Depends on how well you know them. I used to date a bisexual girl and she used to invite a friend over sometime. This arrangement worked out great until she got serious with one of these friends and ended our relationship. It was fun while it lasted and I hope to get lucky again

I'll quote Arundhati Roy in a recent interview in Outlook:

"Q: Any positive thoughts to end this dark conversation?
AR: Let me share a sweet little thing. I saw a news report about two Adivasi girls getting married to each other. And the whole village was saying: if that's what they want, it's fine. They had this ceremony, with all the rituals and customs, and they let them get married. That's a moment of magic. It reveals their level of modernity, of their sophistication. Of their beauty."

Thanks for the tip Anar, a fascinating interview anyway touching on many many subjects, some of them regularly brought up here:

'If Bush Is So Acceptable To Manmohan And The Congress, Why Lose Sleep Over Modi?'
The world is a small place. At least it is to the Booker-winning author. She talks on, perhaps, every defining topic of our times.

woi! hehehe..thats a very sweeping statement. i would think 90 per cent of guys in India who display the above said stuff , do it unconsciously n not in a sexual way at all. Cultural differences sexuality is basically a constructed concept...how sexuality is defined, displayed AND perceived is also contructed by society.

i just wonder - how can anybody form a law forbidding someone to love another.i can agree with a law with respect to minorities and infideflity in marriage.
but if u love somebody and dont cause any harm to the people around u, then what is the harm , its completely individualistic.
earlier, the law banned gay and lesbian marriages so as not to discourage the growth of human race, but in these times concept of not discouraging the growth of human race does not arise.

All this is nice.. free love... open to all, and maybe a little off subject.... but the fact is in India about a month ago they rounded some gay men with out evidence for having sex..

in Nepal the mitis are always being harassed and arrested...
http://transdada.blogspot.com/2006/0...ual-abuse.html

and most recently Iran, Zimbabwe and USA and other Nations with the same human rights records got together brought to a vote to dispel GBLT organization from observer status...
http://transdada.blogspot.com/2006/01/un-u.html

so... lets face it...to be queer in some place is not all that safe.. this can be seen if someone defend gays and has to state they are *not* gay... if there was not fear it would not matter... internalized homophobia does harm as well..
