If that is so, didn't this give time for them to be prevented or at least for the premises to be cleared?
5 minutes before.

As for the rest, But when it walks like a duck and .....

There are still theories going around about how the US government actually carried out the WTC attacks, btw.

Are governments everywhere including in India capable of cold blooded cynicism and murder of their own nationals? Sure they are.

But most conspiracy theories remain theories.

Quoting vaguely now, but 1984 makes 1947 look like 2008

Sure. Such ducks are easily imitated though.

It's another of my objections against certain "radical" movements: They're too predictable. Master the moves and the repertoire and the parlance, and that's it.

(Besides and I'll repeat, there are ample and well-documented cases of such groups being front organizations, or infiltrated at best, in the first place, and not just in the "third" world.

Makes you sort of want to refrain from any social agitation at all. Which I wouldn't suggest however. Just slip through the loops & don't follow any leaders. And if it sounds like a heap of crock, it probably is.

As an old funny punk pamphlet had it, the best defense against mind control rays is to stay close to the ground & practise emptiness of mind -- or something to that effect.)

Thumbs down

What kind of devils blow up hospital admissions areas? I saw on our nightly news where one poor man got blown up once in town & then again as he was being admitted to hospital. Those ba$tards will get what's coming to them ....in sh'allah.

Peak, the idea is precisely that, to make people very angry, so there are riots against Muslims (instigated by the usual suspects, who now have more support) so there is more polarisation and another Gujarat 2002.

Reminder that Modi got elected twice (when once the de facto opponent was Sonia Gandhi) after the Gujarat riots. He didn't get elected on his (accepted) excellent administrative skills and investment friendly policies alone.

The terrorists responsible for Mumbai and others helped him get elected.

I sense a bit of powerlessness in India today. I fear that the fruit is ripe for another plucking, and another Gujarat. That is the real danger, not a few bombs.

Yes, looks as if Modi's been planting bombs again. And then he will give the mobs 24 hours grace again ...

The raid on the home of an US citizen in Mumbai was reported on a USA biz(!) news channel earlier. This is what I can find online:

The e-mail's subject line said "Await 5 minutes for the revenge of Gujarat," an apparent reference to 2002 riots in the western state that left 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, dead. The historic city of Ahmadabad was the scene of much of the 2002 violence.

Saturday's e-mail, sent from a Yahoo account and written in English, was made available to the AP by CNN-IBN, one of the TV stations that received the warning.

Late Sunday, police raided a home in a Mumbai suburb, believing the e-mail may have been sent from a computer there. Gafoor said police had confiscated a computer and were analyzing the hard-drive.

The apartment was being rented by a 48-year-old U.S. citizen, said Kirit Sonawane, a police officer involved in the raid. He provided no other details on the identity of the man.

The American has not been detained and Sonawane would not say if he was a suspect.

"We are talking to him," he said.

I assume its someone from the diaspora/PIO - if it is, I'll have to keep an eye on this - things got a little difficult for Punjabi origin people from UK and Canada when entering India during the Sikh separatism period in the 80s.

I couldn't find anything in the Indian Express online about this - in that vein, I usually read the Indian Express for non-biz broadsheet quality news - after all my niece works there - but my knowledge may be out of date; any different views ?

The name doesn't sound like it is, though Kenneth Heywood can be an Anglo Indian or somesuch name.

Quote:
The 14-page email was sent from the address alarbi_Gujarat@yahoo.com. The Internet protocol address was traced to Kenneth Heywood of Gunina Housing Society, Sector 2, Sanpada. Heywood is a resident of flats 1503/1504, C Wing.

A TV channel had claimed yesterday that it received the threat mail five minutes before the first of the 16 blasts in Ahmedabad. STAR News said it had received a mail at 9pm. It is not clear if the two mails are identical or, if not, which one had police traced to Navi Mumbai.

I read somewhere else that the foreigner(s) said their email accounts had been hacked.

Also the Wall Street Journal

Quote:
In the name of Allah the Indian Mujahideen strike again! Do whatever you can, within 5 minutes from now, feel the terror of Death!" said an email from the group sent to several Indian television stations minutes before the blasts began.

I felt terribly disgusted watching the TV which I don't after coming back from work but it was like secondary smoking as some one else was doing for her professional need. Sushma Swaraj said that these attacks were aimed at maligning BJP ruled states after the cash for vote episode.
Ridiculous and shameful.

Ahh, thanks, I didn't have a last name. You are right. I feel a lot less concerned, from a personal perspective, about how it may affect me - I was just being alert and thinking thru what measures, if any, I need to take to increase my transparency to the Indian electronic pattern matching monitoring processes( if any exist). Its all pretty transparent mostly but I do use encryption for my personal financial information emails with family in India - just for the usual reasons.

Arrey # 56!!
just because I am of Paki origin does not mean I am pro Pakistan . Quite the opposite in fact.partition was a massive mistake , and the durrand line was also a mistake .
I also believe that Islam is not a bad religion but bad people misuse it and misinterpret it .
Whichever group that organized these bombings in India, a country that I LOVE, it will no doubt be a puppet/front for the ISI or some other bigger fish( sorry for the mixed metaphors ji).

bugger all has been in the 'Strine broadsheets about the bombings in India. After all another QANTAS plan had to make an emergency landing, none killed , none wounded and one person had to be given an aspirin!!!:-p,
, but that passenger was an Ozzie so that is what is important!!

anyone who kills anybody is not a muslim and will do well to invest in fireproof suits for the next world.

Watching NDTV news tonight - police have found and defused 18 bombs in various places in Surat today. One was up a tree, others hidden beneath shanty type buildings, shops etc. I didn't hear any news about 'how' they knew where these bombs were.

somebody must have sung like a canary...not very unlikely.

This is probably the handiwork of some faction of SIMI...read somewhere that SIMI broke up with one faction wanting to go outright jihad on India.

This is probably them..with the minimum training and equipment they could lay hands on...and a show of strength of sorts..and somebody must have been caught in that group.
