Republic Day - 26 Jan

Hey - can anyone let me know how much of an impact republic day on the 26 jan has, mainly on public transport - travelling from mumbai to goa around this date....

The impact is felt only in the immediate vicinity (in cities) of areas where parades etc are held. Long distance transport is not normally a problem.

You won't face many issues in Mumbai- the parade is usually held around Shivaji Park, Dadar. Some roads are closed for traffic upto a day or so before.

Be prepared for higher security, though.

Little, if any. The only noticeable thing could be, stepped up security. Be prepared for prolonged frisking at airports, shopping centres etc.

They may put extra security personnel on the beaches in Goa & Mumbai. That's about it.
