Punjab to Shimla in December

Hi everyone, I'm planning a trip to Punjab at the end of this year and was including Jalandhar in my itinerary.

Would anyone know the situation there nowadays? Is the army still on patrol around Jalandhar and Ludhiana, or have things settled down now?

Is it safe to plan Jalandhar-Ludhiana - Rupnagar - Shimla in December. Snow blocking roads near Shimla is the other concern for that time of year. I've read a few posts in another thread where people were saying the weather is fairly unpredictable.

In short, have I got rocks in my head even considering this trip plan in December?

well, situation is completely peaceful and moreover those were protests and not directed against anyone. No need to worry now. even travel to shimla wont be a problem, as it hardly snowed in december in the last couple of years. moreover, as it is most used road, even if it rains or snows, the roads get immediately cleared. problem areas are beyond shimla, which might take a bit long to open after a heavy snow..
