Panorama from Auroville

I have no idea what the occaisions was, aside from it being the anniversary of the initial descent of the Supramental Consciousness. But it's a neat photo panorama at:

What does supramental mean? I just looked it up in the Shorter Oxford English dictionary but oddly enough there was no entry
for this term. Furthermore who's that guy on the left of the picture, is it perhaps India Mike?

The supramental consciousness is the medium through which humankind will achieve the next stage in evolution to become a global intellectual/spiritual entity, according to Aurobindo's scheme. Something similar was discussed in Timothy Leary's book Exo-Psychology, except that in Leary's scheme we have to leave the Earth in order to become super-beings. According to legend The Mother, who founded Auroville and was Aurobindo's successor, witnessed the first descent of the Supramental Light (a manifestation of the Divine Consciousness) and her molecular structure was rearranged to convert her into a conductor for the spread of that energy throughout the world. After she decided to continue her labours from beyond the mortal plane like Aurobindo, the Tourist Guy inherited the mantle of cosmic lightning rod.
