Read your link Captain - yes, it's going to be good except I think it should be stopping at a few more stations - NDRS is also a bit crowdy although that backside entrance not quite so bad. Certainly better than Old Delhi. Lajpat Nagar stop would be good. It sounds very similar to the one from Central Railway Station, Sydney out to the Airport. It's fantastic - a breeze to use (plenty of lifts on all stations for luggage carrying). I hope these are there for all stations here too.

Yes and the work is already underway...couple of days back I was at ND Station and there were barricades of metro saying that work was under progress on the Metro Express link...

Boy..these guys are fast..

It would have the luggage check in facility at the Metro Station itself and after a while would start the of issuing boarding passes before boarding the metro...

I'm wondering whether this is going to involve HUGE queues and more hold-ups at the Metros? Does this mean airlines people will be staffing booths like in the airport? Actually could work if plenty of booths...

Given the track record, I am sure that Metro would actually be providing better infrastructure than the Airports..

Secondly, I guess, this would be an exclusive link, different from the normal metro..so people who want to go to the airport would only be using it. And from Central Delhi to airport it would be only 20 odd minutes..

Sounds good, Shashank. I'm thinking of the Sydney one where many people use it for shopping - a good mall at one of the stops - workplace at any of the stops, local residents etc. Not just airport destination people - this is what keeps it viable economically.

but om this link, the only work place is the central Delhi..i.e CP and surrounding areas...and not much residential area..

Moreover it would be stopping only at four places..Shivaji Terminus, Dhaula Kuan, NH-8 and IGI...but the fare has been fixed at Rs.150, which is what will make it economically viable..as normal Metro's maximum fare is around Rs.20 and is running positive currently..

Shivaji Stadium is right next to Connaught Circus and is a major bus stop for buses going to south-west, north and north-west Delhi.

If it's like the Heathrow Express, this will be great, and massively reduce a lot of hassle. In London, if you check out of your hotel at noon, but your flight doesn't leave until 9 at night, you can just go to Paddington Station, check in for your flight and drop your bag, and enjoy the rest of the day in town. You can then hop the Express to the airport closer to flight time, and just go through security to the gate. If this is the case in Delhi, it will mean no more monster chaotic lines to check in at the airport at 10 at night. You could check your bag at NDRS in the AM, spend the last day in Delhi, and head to the airport with enough time to go through security.

Thanks Shashank, found it on the map! Very handy station there I should think! Well, let's hope it's all like you say, Sadhu, then it will be a real asset!
