Exclamation Kumbh Mela begins amid terrorist alert

ALLAHABAD, India (AFP) - More than 50 million Hindu pilgrims are expected to descend on this northern Indian city to wash away their sins at a festival amid fears of a possible terrorist attack, officials said.
....
Security officials said they were maintaining tight security amid intelligence reports of a possible terrorist strike during the lengthy and massive celebrations.

"We have got intelligence reports about possible threats or possible attacks from a terrorist organization. We are not taking any chances," state home secretary S.K. Agarwal said Friday without giving further details.

When there is fear of a terrorist attack, mass events like these can be very dangerous.
Some feable minded "jokester" in the croud can shout "Bomb!" just for "fun" and start a stampede that can kill dozens... These kind of things already happened numerous times.
And it doesn't have to be a jokester either. In these situations, a word can kill more people than a bomb, so a terrorist willing to risk his life, doesn't really need explosives.

Personally, I always avoid being caught in potentially volatile crowds.
