KOLKATA, Jan. 25. — With most stalls still going through the first phase of construction today, the Book Fair grounds had more than the usual share of dust. And despite the Publishers’ and Book Sellers’ Guild promising to ban plastic bags and cups from the food stalls on the fair grounds, most food stalls in the food park were found to be using both in profusion, with complete disregard for the guild’s order. ……

The government of His Majesty King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz has begun implementing the National Cultural Project to reestablish the once existing bond between books and their readers. The project aims at developing a positive approach and enthusiasm for reading in the different factions of the Saudi society.
