Is it safe to travel in the North?
Hi,
I hv planned a surprice trip for my parents this december 28th to Agra, jaipur, Jaisalmer and Delhi. After all these tense situation in Mumbai and the north do you think it is still advicable to carry on with the trip or shall I call in for a cancellation. Since its all Surprice package, i am unable to consult with my parents. You advice on this will throttle myself. Thanking you.... |

Hi there !
I suggest it is quite easy and safe in North India. Of course, the Mumbai-incident is quite unnerving, but go ahead ! rk |

I would not cancel the trip. It is as safe here as anywhere else. My family was very worried about me (and I live 5 hours away from Mumbai by train) but they don't seem to remember the bombings in the US. I am originally from KS and Oklahoma city bombing occured while I was in high school and while I lived in DC I was at the Pentagon bus station about 15 minutes before the 9/11 plane hit. Overall India is a very safe place. There is less major crime more pick pocketing (so make sure you keep your valuables with you). If it is any conselation to you the US embassies high alert for the area around Mumbai expires on December 31st

The great Indian Machine never stops churning! The show will not stop!
The North will remain as safe or unsafe as it always was. And I ask you this, are they not people traveling there right now with out a hassle?

We've been getting a number of threads on this theme. In the interests of tidiness and ease of access to information I will close this one- please follow the link below for further discussion on the topic:
