I somehow missed the memo in which you were appointed censor-general with the authority to decide who can say what.

It's been going on on other threads as well, in the most obnoxious ways.

Rubbish.

How do equate criticising crap journalism with India-shines? If you want that kind of nonsense, go find the threads that proclaim how rape is not an Indian problem, or there is as much rape in Hampton Beverage as there is in Delhi, or European politicians commit grand rape too. It's just that some of us have very little faith in the Daily Mirror/Mail/Sun/Star/Whatever as authorites. And the BBC isn't much better. Or the Times of India, which wants to be The Sun when it grows up.

Should you be, perhaps, posting on the what's in your glass thread?

I don't appreciate the use of your quoting me quoting the daily trash in a way that infers they're my words. This may have been unintentional but it takes what I wrote completely out of context.

My points are entirely valid and completely on topic in response to your criticism of all alternative viewpoints.

I'm happy for you to take me to task based on anything I've written. But please do show me how it's anyway less helpful or off topic than any of the posts you've made, and if so I'll happily take it down.

Until then, I'll defend my view point and continue to hope for a better world and transparent actual journalism.

It's a sad inditement of the human race that the murder and rape of an innocent girl is in and of itself not enough to shock the audience ..
Precisely my sentiment. A thread that should elicit rage and horror and a demand for robust justice has been hijacked by a few worms crawling out of the woodwork.

Where were we not shocked?

I'm doing the rage and horror thing at the teenage rape victim from whom Rs.20,000 is being demanded before she can be allowed to be a member of her community again.

Subject rape murder in Goa/India .. preferred discussion quality of UK news media.

I'm not trying to deflect the subject. In trying to deflect your bad media contributions.
And then your offtopic useless remarks.

If you think I'm an India-shining guy, you couldn't be more wrong. Not since about 2007.

Now... Enough about me. And you.

OK, so they might have a point. Accepted.

But what stood out of that article, for me was "British... British... British..." Seemed to me like the usual tabloid song. Even while accepting the point: other Europeans are not polite? Americans are not polite? Japanese tourists are not polite? Well, OK, perhaps it is a British newspaper.

Also, the Guardian raises the question of the number of deaths in Goa. It does seem high, and I mentioned before that it is likely that police like to file under "needs-no-work." But the newspaper, in this instance, does not do much more than throw a few numbers around. And I'm an ex Guardian buyer/reader.

Irish female tourist murdered in Goa...

Matter has been well and truely raised. A crime has been committed and the police have got their man. I really feel sorry for the family of the deceased who have to manage without her and with the knowledge of what happened.
