Indian Airlines to be called "Indian" now

The government-owned Indian Airlines has acquired a new corporate identity and a new name as well.

It will now be called ''Indian.' The word 'Airlines' has been dropped and will hopefully shed its somewhat stodgy image.

More:... ( with a pic of the new look aircraft)

That's how public money is wasted.

Remeber some years ago Air-India changed its logo and wasted so much of money for painting all the aircrafts only to revert later to the present logo!

Yes I agree! they have just pulled the same 'scam' where I work in England!
£4000000 GBP to change the 'logo' and all the paperwork etc that includes because it could be interpreted as looking backwards instead of forwards!!

Of course, no money put into ground level activities!!

At least they realized they are not an airline

I love their new logo. "When you HAVE to get there in the worst way possible - think Indian."

No Fly!

I love their new logo. "When you HAVE to get there in the worst way possible - think Indian."

Funny that's very close to my motto for them "If you can't think of any other way to get there - risk Indian."

You surely can't be serious! (new logo I mean!)

That is the best logo I have heard to date! Totally truthful and for that I will only fly 'Indian' from now on!!

Send a message via Yahoo to rikko
I registered on IA website yesterday and tried to get fare info Chennai to Delhi, I got errors intermittently. The registration confirmation email says that if you do not login within 60 days the registration will be disabled and after 90 days it will be removed!!! Which idiot decided this policy. As if they are doing me a favor by letting me register.

Must have been an Indian after their new name Indian.
I am of Indian decent by the way before some of you get your gander up.

Competition and the free market is still the best way to improve service and products not that dam socialist/centrist/so called liberal ideology in which these airlines were born and became lethargic. Isn't this (IA and Air India) such a wonderful example of how life, economics really works and how it doesn't work.

If IA can really improve and provide great service at competetive prices I will surely try them again but a mere name and logo change doesn't do anything to yours truly...

Hey, it's a common practice. If your name has a negative reputation, then change the name and hope for a better reputation to build.

Also... shortening a name means you can write the name LARGER. Better for advertising. We had a store in Melbourne called "Myers". They dropped the "s" at the end for that exact reason.

emjoi .... even the lack of the 's' didn't help Myer!
Since Aherns changed to DJs in WA, all of my Myer-employee friends complain that the store will soon be going under!

The amount of money spent on advertising and marketing when there are so many better things to spend it on ....

Yes, and to think that Air-India is now Air India and the centaur logo is slightly inclined skywards!!! "Fly well" is the new buzzword!!! A slight change in the name and logo again for the new look Air India and hope things will finally look upward with the new things happening inside the aircraft as well as all the new aircraft that are being ordered soon. Hope things will turn better as the IPO is soon to come out in the financial market to finance the new aircraft buying programme.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Sounds pretty negative to me, as if they are asking you to travel with them if you want to travel in the worst way possible!!! HAHAHA!!!

Cheers,
Aadil.

Thumbs up control of the skies

the tiger cannot change its stripes, it will be old wine in new bottle with the added weight of overheads. with such stiff competition for the control of the skies, this is not a move that will pay dividends.

I remember when B.A. rebranded and dropped the word airways - rebranded as 'British'. Didnt take long to realise was a mistake and renamed back to British Airways. Yes terrible waste of money.
