Hey, but I thought there was a reply to this post by Radjesh and I too replied to that. Now how did this vanishing trick happen? Clueless and curious.

LOL, this is your friendly moderator speaking. It was about your missing article link which I thought had been solved now. Those comments can be restored if you like -- or these two can be equally removed as being superfluous by now

This magazine is, I think, all about luxury travel --- so yes, they probably do escape the touts! I wonder how many IMers would ever pick up a copy, although, of course we have members travelling on at all budget levels.
But I've got nothing against five-star hotels! Only my bank balance has .

About touts, if the luxury segment ever decided to take a walk unescorted, I thought they would meet the touts. I wonder if there is a message board about luxury travel But I guess they don't need a message board. And I have one off topic question now that a few mods are answering here- why do I see so many 'account closed' sings against members. Strikes some kind of fear, you know ![]() |

Captain, I have been digging some archives and that is where I see account closed signs and a few account closed on users request! Sounds like a mystery

With a site as popular as indiamike, it's impossible to keep everyone happy.
There are as many members complaining about not enough moderation as there are about too much moderation, that to me is a sign that the balance is about right. But still by far the biggest reason for a user's account to be closed is advertising. The rest are users banned for breaking rules, or otherwise just deciding to leave indiamike. It is still rare for a member to be active for over a year.

I don't believe it...India has what only 4 million tourists last year...and I read somewhere much smaller France has 75 million on them...
But I guess its all about luxurious travel and rating...it might be possible that the readers of the magazine were impressed by hospitality of five star hotels and palaces.. |

Steven, that is interesting, I mean it is rare to have active members beyond a year. That way I have been aorund for double that time
And as I said I was just curious to know about accounts closed, nothing else.Shashank, 4.4 million is the figure I have seen may a times. And the luxury segment, I know next to nothing about it ![]() |

We don't close accounts just because people don't use them, unless we get a request from that member to do so.
Once we had a sort of tidy up, and deleted some accounts. We soon got messages saying, "Hey! Just because I haven't posted anything doesn't mean I don't visit the site" --- so we realised that that was a mistake. We do make them! The mysteries will always arise: why should member 'xxx' have a high post count and yet suddenly be banned? It's just one of those things: we use the words 'account closed'; we don't put 'sent highly offensive PMs to other members or moderators' or whatever --- and we never will. If what-ever-it-was happened in public forum, and you were there at the time, well, then its a bitof IndiaMike history that you were privy too. If not, well... it disappears into the mists of the past and stays there! Stuff happens that nobody sees. I'm sure you can believe that we had one member who's perfectly reasonable posts about his holiday gave no clue that he was PMing ladies on the site to enquire about their underwear ! we only know this because it was reported to us: the unafected members will never know. It's interesting, being a moderator on a busy site. We often wish it were less so! |

But back on the topic... I think luxury travel in India is booming! I have heard it said for sometime that Chennai's five-star hotels are overbooked. I know that, a few years back in my salaried-travel days, some of the nicer hotels in Kerala told me they were busy all year, even monsoon.

Nick, and everyone else thanks a lot for your replies. Even for Delhi we get to hear that 5 star hotels are booked the year round but then I think I have stayed in just one in my entire life and that too as a guest
