Drumming tax sense into evaders

Tax evaders in a southern Indian city are having cash beaten out of them - by troupes of drummers.

Authorities in the city of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh state are sending drummers to create a noise outside homes until evaders cough up.

I know the feeling Conor - those bloody Lambeg drums in Northern Ireland on the 12th of July!

Enough to make anyone pay up for a good night's sleep - tax evader or not!

In many a village the rich don't pay their village tax. The patwari said he would take me to a man so poor he couldn't pay an 8 rupee toll. We rounded a corner and came upon what looked like a small apartment block. It was the man's mansion. The patwari did it all with a straight face from beginning to end..

Some Credit card companies and Financial Institutions had come out with an even Novel Idea for collecting their dues.
Sending Eunuchs (Hijras in Hindi) to the defaulters. You know what eunuchs can do in India, am sure.
But some courts were approached and this was stopped.
