For those who missed it, Ali Akbar Khan gave an incredible performance and I think many people were awed by his show and he performed a blistering 2 1/2 hour set. An amazing feat for someone his age. I am glad I had a chance to attend since I don't think he will be performing much longer.

Mike who was on Tabla? You are right Ustadji is very old, he has entertained generations with superb music. His sessions with Alla Rakha on Tabla are legends.

I think he would have been Alla Rakha's son Jakeer Hussain. He had been accompanying his father's friend. He is great, a good stage performer but his father's intricate "bols" "laykari" & famous restraint are unbeatable.

Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri accompanied Ali Akbar Khansahib at Doverlane this year. He is the Master of Percussion a.k.a "Director of Percussion" at The Ali Akbar College of Music. They've been together for a long time now. Anyway, just so you know, that was Swapanji.

Thanks ManikSarod for the info. Yes passingby I agree with you Pandit Swapan Chowdhury's tabla is amazing. His effortless rendering of intricate Tukras & Kaydas combined with galloping Boles had always fascinated me.
