Dacoits target Mumbai-Howrah Mail

PATNA, DHNS:

Armed dacoits looted cash and valuables from passengers travelling in AC-3 coach of Mumbai-Howrah Mail in Bihar on Friday. The incident took place between Bhabua and Pusauli stations on the Mughalsarai – Gaya section of East Central Railway during the wee hours on Friday.

The passengers who tried to resist were attacked and four of them were injured including one who was stabbed and is undergoing treatment in Sasaram railway hospital.

Railways Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, who was in Patna, reacted strongly by suspending 7 Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans escorting the train. He said that five persons were arrested in connection with the dacoity and they were being interrogated to nab others involved in the incident.

According to Mr Yadav, armed criminals had boarded the train in AC as well general compartments from Mughalsarai in Uttar Pradesh and committed the dacoity. After committing the crime the dacoits pulled the chain and disembarked without any resistance from RPF jawans.

Crime on running trains in Bihar continues unabated despite tall claims made by the new railway minister. More than half a dozen incidents of train passengers being looted have occurred since Mr Yadav took charge of the ministry. At least 4 persons have lost their lives in these incidents including a BSF jawan and two contractors

After Laloo(who is no saint himself) has become the railway minister, Biharis have started believing that they own the IR and can get away with anything!

Shameful !

Scary, specially since I travel alone a lot...they might kill me if I resist giving them my Lonely Planet guide cause that is mostly the most precious thing I carry.....seriously though, I thought Ac 3 was the safest for a lone woman traveller since there are so many people on the coach...Bihar really is the pits...

Lol,
but joking aside, lets hope this is stamped out quickly. This became quite a problem 6/7 years ago I seem to remember a fair few trains were stopped and robbed! Not all of them by CM laloo.
