Cities to host cultural fairs for tourists
Kerala Tourism in its attempt to showcase the array of Kerala art forms to the tourists visiting the state, cities in Kerala would host art performance twice in a week, during the peak tourist season. This was disclosed by the Minister for Tourism, Prof. K. V. Thomas during his speech at Cheruthuruthy, after inaugurating the project ‘A day with the masters’ jointly executed by the Department of Tourism, Public Relations Department and Kalamandalam.
Designed to give the visitors a comprehensive understanding of Kalamandalam and its activities, the project ‘A day with the masters’ would provide an opportunity for the visitors to close to its renowned training centres and also to interact with eminent teachers and the students undergoing training at the Kalamandalam. The project ‘A day with the masters’ is conceived and designed by the Director of Public Relations, Dr. V. Venu.
The Department of Tourism plans to stage various art performs in cities viz. Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, on all Sundays and Saturdays, during the peak tourist season. Prof. Thomas said that tourism should be effectively used as one of the means to cultivate and propagate Kerala’s traditional art forms and other cultural traits of the land.
