BJP is the ruling party in Gujrat and Karnataka. I would not be surprised if some other national party was behind these attacks. The next general election is not far away.....

PS: A quote from TJS George comes to my mind, 'politics is the last refuge of scoundrels'.

Politics aside, this sort of news is always disturbing and terrible for the innocent people and their families caught up in the blasts.

Of course, at this juncture, politics should be the last thing on our minds. But, I wanted to mention that our Political leaders would stoop to any level to come back to power.

... heard one almighty 'whoomp' earlier on close to our own house (Maninagar) and asked the wife what that noise was ? Now watching the news on TV. Brother-in-law stays close to where one of the bombs went off.

Luckily all the family are safe. Never gave much thought to bombings til now...

After the words of regret and horror, I do not see how politics can be left out of this: that is exactly what it is about, surely?

Not that I see a great deal of point in speculation...

yeah, what Nick said; I can't see how you can leave politics out of it - in a very real sense - this IS politics.

I worry that bombs in Gujarat may be an attempt to create further Hindu-Muslim tension, but it depends where the bombs were planted.

CNN-IBN keeps saying "the point of the blasts was to create terror." What the hell does that even mean? Why won't someone on the news describe this in real life words? And can I ay that politically correct phrases like "communally sensitive areas" are ridiculous.

A lot of what the politicians, the so called news channels and the politically correct muddled classes say is just that- ridiculous.

Seems to me that whoever did this is intentionally trying to create fear as opposed to creating a big death toll. If it were a group with serious hostilities, who went to the trouble of planting 17 bombs, it would have been very easy to destroy many more lives.
