Badri-Kedar managers seek online help for a cause

The ‘Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee’ has decided to take advantage of the Internet for collecting donations to preserve and protect some of the ancient temples in the Garhwal Himalayas.
For this cause an online donation facility will be available very soon in BKTC’s official website www.badrikedar.org.
The Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), a government body managing the renowned Hindu shrines of Badrinath and Kedarnath, is collecting the funds online to renovate 89 temples of religious significance located in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Ruderprayag, Tehri and Pauri districts.
Speaking on this latest initiative Nand Kishore Nautiyal, Chairman of the BKTC, says, “We have approached a private bank (ICICI) for handling our online account. The talks are in the final stage and very soon we would start online donation for Badrinath and Kedarnath.”
The proposed online donation is for a cause and the temple committee plans to generate funds for renovating 89 temples attached to Badrinath and Kedarnath.
“Once the online donation takes off, we will make an appeal through our website to devotees to help the Committee financially for protecting some of the least known but religious importance temples. Photographs and all other information about the 89 temples will be available on the Internet. With this we will also be taking up promotion work on these temples, some of which are situated in pristine locations,” Nautiyal adds.
The Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines remain the favorites of pilgrims in the country. Last year Badrinath attracted 4,48,517 and Kedarnath 1,69,217 devotees. Now the target is to attract maximum visitors and generous donors on www.badrikedar.org.
