You say that a paper says that a family in Australia says that there is a coverup.
I don't know enough solid facts on this case or others to comment specifically, it may even be true that murders are on the increase. They certainly are in many other parts of the world. It is hardly wholesale slaughter though, compared to the numbers of tourists who drown or are killed or maimed for life in car accidents.
When there is racial tension in Australia, journalists will of course start badgering people such as this who have been bereaved, in the hope of getting a good quote or even better getting more column inches out of resurrecting an old story.
Bereaved families do tend to seek rational explanations and certainties, where sometimes their loved one losing their life was simply the result of random bad luck.
Frankly, nothing new has happened, this is not news.

A sad mystery
I googled it and it's pretty hard to figure this out. There is a story in an Australian newspaper. This older pensioner was found dead with conflicting stories of how he died. He may have been beaten, or died of poisoning none of it's clear and that's clearly why there is this hubbub.
What I totally don't understand is why Australians think they are being targeted? It makes no sense. Do hooligans run around asking for passports to see where their victims are from?
We white westerners look pretty much the same--without our passports to identify us. In fact, I'm frequently asked "are you coming from Britian, England, Australia" I always say Yes
Anyway, there is no doubt people get murdered-- too many here in the U.S.A.--for no apparent reason.
This is a sad story, and a complete mystery. Who knows who he tangled with/befriended who he shouldn't have. Again, horrible but not all that uncommon. I don't think there is any evidence that Australians are being singled out for murder in India.

My selected India photos http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...r/7030/cat/500 At first glance, it seems to be an attempt to make a pattern out of a single tragic story- in response to we-know-what.

I don't want to downplay any family's tragedy, but that is a rubbish article, just for the inferences it chooses to draw.

so the Indian and Australian authorities are in cahoots on this one?

tch tch. That's giving the game - and the state of mind- away.

Even if true, ten in eleven years? That s ten too many, but hardly an alaming pattern or a clear and present danger, as the headline wants to suggest. If Australians are being targeted, we Indians are doing a poor - and slow-job of it. I agree.

Very well said Captain. How about 1600 Indians attacked in OZ in the last 12 months, and another 560 odd in the year before?
That looks like a pattern to me. I wonder if the article carried these statistics in their story?

Agree with the Captain, camelgirl, and Brisso. This is the product of the fevered brain of a sensation-seeking (or sensation-fabricating) tabloid "journalist" with too much time on his hands. And you know what they say about "an idle mind".
